Search Tips

Searching through the amount of information available on any given subject today can easily be overwhelming. Remember these helpful research tips when researching topics related to Biblical Peacemaking.

Library Catalog Searching

Keyword searches: environmental ethics, environmental stewardship, creation ethics, Christians AND environment, church AND environment, Christian ethics

Bibliographic Citations

- Remember to record citation information for every source you use as you go, so you don't have to go back to find this after you have finished your research

- Try to use correct formatting when recording citations

Academic Books

- Consult book summaries, and chapter index/headings to determine which portions of a book you should spend time reading that relate to your topic

- Check out the references at the end of the chapter or book to find leads for possible scholarly articles

Scholarly Articles: Use the Theological Journals Library and Google Theological Journal Search

- Search using particular passage citation (i.e. John 3:16)

- Use the limiting tools offered in the database to refine your search results

- Read abstracts to determine if articles fit your research need

- Read reference/bibliography list at the end of articles locate of relevant articles

Web Resources

-Evaluate web resources carefully for authority, accuracy, bias, and credibility

- Always consider the source, and the relevance of the information to your particular topic
